Stories are merely the beginning...
At Stepple Farm, we believe in the power of stories—how they inspire, challenge, and connect us.
Some stories are written—woven into business books, explored in magazine columns, or brought to life in novels. Others are lived—shaped by the journeys we take, the businesses we build, and the legacies we leave behind.
One of our most significant stories has been transitioning a business to Employee Ownership. It’s a tale of risk and reward, of sleepless nights and hard-won victories, of learning when to lead and when to step back. That experience didn’t just change the way we worked—it reshaped our understanding of what ownership, leadership, and legacy really mean.
It also sparked something new.
Through our People First EO service, we now help business owners and founders navigate their own transition to Employee Ownership. Having walked this path ourselves, we know it’s about more than financials and legal structures—it’s about people, culture, and the future you want to create. We offer practical guidance, honest insight, and a fair bit of humour to help others make informed, confident decisions about their next chapter.
Because whether on the page or in practice, the best stories don’t just entertain—they transform. And we’re here to help you shape yours.
A Little About Me
I’m Simon—Chief Cook, Bottle Washer, and occasional procrastinator at Stepple Farm.
You’ll find me tucked away in the shadow of the Shropshire Hills, surrounded by fields, farms, and the kind of scenery that makes you feel guilty for staying indoors. It’s where I work, write, walk, dig, and—when time allows—sleep. Not a bad gig, really.

But it's not all rural bliss. For over two decades, I’ve been at the forefront of business storytelling and consulting. This journey has led me to play my part in two successful ventures, Eyeful Presentations and Sales Engine, helping businesses tell their stories in a way that truly resonates.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple desire: to help people. This passion drove me to leap from a successful career in fintech to tackle the dreaded office epidemic - “Death by PowerPoint” - and Eyeful Presentations was born. 18 years later, Eyeful Presentations transitioned to Employee Ownership.
It was a very proud day...and the end of an era.

My deep love for writing has led to a few books along the way. My first, "The Presentation Lab: Learn The Formula Behind Powerful Presentations," was a hit, translated into six languages and still going strong after ten years. My latest, "Employee Ownership: A Guide to Transitioning from Boss to Benefactor," is a practical guide for those looking to pass the torch to their employees, just like I did at Eyeful. Never one to waste an experience (or opportunity), I now use the bruises and lessons learned through that process in our EOT Advisory service, People First EO.

Not all my writing is business and spreadsheets, though. My debut novel, What Is Love For?, is coming in 2025, with more in the pipeline. And when I’m not wrestling with plotlines, I’m contributing to magazines on gardening, walking, and the highs and lows of Puppy Fatherhood (because if you think running a business is tough, try training a Labrador).
You can find more of my musings over on Substack—because a man needs a hobby, right?
